Naming your business can be much more difficult than you anticipated. There’s lots to consider, so I have compiled a list of things you should think about before naming your business.
1. Analyse your business and what you have to offer
Your name should represent you and your business. Ideally, you want the business name to convey something meaningful and positive related to your business.
2. Choose a name that grows with you
Don’t choose a name that will limit you, especially if you want your business to grow. For example don’t use email marketing in your name if you want to offer other forms of marketing eventually.
3. Don’t be to wild
You want a name that your target audience can relate to.
4. Brainstorm
Brainstorm a list of names that you think represents your brand. You can even use a dictionary or Google to find similar words to the ones you’ve chosen that may work great.
5. Mix and Match
Mix and match the words you have written down. This will help you to think out of the box, matching words you may not have put together before.
6. Get feedback
When you’re ready, share your chosen name with close family and friends. Try and also see if the name has any negative connotations in other languages. You can use Google translate for this.
7. Say your name out loud
It may look good on paper, but not sound so great.
8. Get your domain name
This is important even if you do not have a website, purchase your domain name before it goes. There are plenty of domain name providers.
