Developing a USP begins with your target audience in mind is very important. What do you know about your target audience and why they buy items/ service from the market you are operating in?
– What is your competitive advantage?
You should be able to say the things your business is really good at. Make a list of your competitors and see which needs they are meeting. Next, evaluate how well they meet those needs. Just because someone has a good position in your market, that doesn’t mean that they’re delivering on their promises. If you can do better, do it.
– Look at industry trends
You need to look at those needs that aren’t being met by anyone and also think about the key trends in your industry. Have a think about the current trends and those issues that will be most important in five years’ time. Now see if you can extend your advantage into these areas.
2.Create a strong brand
Building a strong unique brand is one of the most important steps in building a successful company. It gives your company a unique personality, that attracts the right customers. To do this re-look at what your competition is doing well and what they are struggling with. This will provide a good basis for you to find an angle that your company can leverage. When I first started branding my business, I asked myself the below questions:
What problem am I solving?
If my company was a person, who would it be?
What can I do better than my competitors? (What opportunities are my competitors missing that I can implement.)
